Thought I would stop by and check the Indigohub page and noticed that it's just over a year since the last post..... lots of spam comments which were duly deleted, guess that's the nature of blogging....

Thinking about Indigo children and they would mostly be adults by now and wondering how they are faring...
The Indigo's that I know, still push boundaries, don't put up with bulls..t and have definite views on what is right. They certainly don't suffer fools gladly. Some are self medicating with booze and other stuff & when asked why... they do it because they can, and it also makes them a little more mellow - taking the edge off ...
When it comes to voting in elections, many of them don't see the relevance of the major political parties and how they make their representatives toe the party line. They care a lot about the way the world is going, but are a little cynical and jaded.

Reconstructing the Hub

The original IndigoHub site was a library of links to sites and practitioners. Since discovering that it has slipped away quietly in the ether, I felt a small sense of loss for the work that was put into it.
It all started with the release of this book, The Indigo Children, which identified the traits and characteristics of some special children.

Jan Tober saw that they had indigo auras and thus the term was born.
Many of the children were not fitting in at all well at school, being classified as learning disabled, when in fact they had a new way of thinking that challenged and continues to challenge mainstream society.

A few enlightened teachers and parents, concerned at the medicalization of the behaviour - the last decade or so saw an explosion in ADHD medication. The "soma" of George Orwell's book 1984, perhaps...
Since this book was written, others have followed with The New Children and the Coming of the the Fifth World (out of print) by P M H Attwater which was interesting reading.
Doreen Virtue, well known author and producer of the Angel Oracle cards also wrote a series of books about Indigo Children, Crystal Children and Rainbow Children.

Over the coming weeks and months, I hope to reconstruct many of the links from memory about Indigo children and perhaps include a page for practitioners who care about and provide alternative therapies, education and services for Indigos, parents and teachers.

Moving on

Indigo children have grown up! Cyberspace also changes and we have lost the original Indigo Hub webspace. As mentioned in the last post, the original members of this group have scattered, but still committed individually to serving Indigo children - no matter their age.

Revisiting IndigoHub

As the saying goes....life gets in the way....other interests and diversions in true Indigo style have meant that blogging here has been put on hold.
A foray back into the education system ended in tears....well almost.... & unlike Humpty Dumpty, I have managed to put myself back together again with help from some very patient and talented people.
Striding off into uncharted territory in  2011 and leaving behind the education system has been interesting to say the least. Some long term associations have ended and the original group of three who set up the Indigohub have gone our separate ways.
One has gone to live in the USA, the other has embraced the esoteric Sufi teachings and I have chosen to work with holistic hypnotherapy.
The last couple of years has been working with Crystal children although in the past 2 months a couple of distressed younger Indigo women have found their way to the clinic.

It's NOT OK, and you shouldn't "have to learn to get along with all sorts of people". The bully is a cunning and nasty minded individual and those who observe and don't do anything are complicit and are also responsible for the distress caused.

Belladonna the movie

A friend sent an email about a movie - Belladonna - soon to be released -looks interesting and hope it makes mainstream here in Australia.

Reflection on 2008

What a year!

Bullying

It's not only kids that are bullies - quite often there are teachers within the schools that bully as well.
They have never left the system - gone to school, then Uni/teacher's college and straight back to school - so they know how it all works.

Melbourne conference

Well, planning is well underway for the Melbourne Middle Years Schooling conference which will be held at the end of Term 3. Those who are planning it/presenting at it are dedicated to bringing about change in the existing mainstream education system and sharing some exciting ways of educating our young adolescents.

There are changes happening in the education system - there is a groundswell of teachers and students who are ready for the change and can no longer wait for the rest to catch up.
A small core group of early Indigo's have been carrying the energy for some time and are now starting to gather together to meet and plan for the future.
A new century has dawned and it may mean that the label 'indigo' is no longer relevant to the students of today that need support - what is most important, is that they have a cohort of supportive and vocal adults to help them facilitate the new paradigms.

Indigohub

Indigo Hub was an initiative of a Melbourne based group of practitioners, parents, educators and Indigo children and adults.

It began as a supportive net link in January 2005 of diverse, compassionate people who utilised a wellness approach to health and development.

The core group aimed to provide resources, education and care dedicated to develop and empower parents and children to express their unique gifts in life.
